MUSIC
Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Psalm 100:1
We sing both psalms and hymns. Christians have been singing some of these songs for hundreds of years, and some of the songs are more recent. We emphasize congregational singing with undistracting instrumental accompaniment.
Sadly, singing has been feminized to a large degree by the evangelical church over the past several decades. While singing is for everyone, we believe that men in particular need to reject passivity and reclaim their God-given place at the front of the vocal battle lines. Men should be leading the charge in our families, in our churches, and in the public square. After all, Jehoshaphat placed the singers at the front of the battle line (2 Chr 20:21).
We encourage you to prepare for the upcoming Sunday worship service by listening to and practicing what we plan to sing together:
- To see and listen to our upcoming songs, see the “Sing Your Part” app. If you select “Heritage of Grace (Columbia, IL).”
- In that app, then you can see and hear what we plan to sing in our upcoming worship service. In the app you can adjust a song’s tempo, and you can adjust the volume of each of the four parts (soprano, alto, tenor, and bass) so that you can hear your part better.
- Need inspiration? Watch this gem. Learning parts is worth it.
- (Heritage of Grace Church purchases a family subscription for members. A subscription gives you access to all of the resources in the app—not just the songs that we plan to sing in the upcoming worship service.)
- For our upcoming Order of Service, see here. We aim to have this uploaded by the end of Friday each week.
